IASC
Structure: The IASC is comprised of eleven geographical regions. Each region is comprised of clubs within its area.
History: The IASC was formed in 1972 as the first minified voice of Illinois snowmobilers. The -ASC initiated the Illinois snowmobile safety education program. Early years were spent as a watchdog for legislation unfavorable to promoting legislation favorable to snowmobiling. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is the government agency responsible for regulating snowmobiling in Illinois. Since 1977, the IASC has continually worked to improve the relationship with the IDNR. The result has been a mutual beneficial relationship.
Illinois Snowmobiler Magazine: The Illinois Snowmobiler magazine is one of the finest snowmobile publications available today. With an emphasis on the Illinois reader, the magazine covers Illinois trails and snowmobile related events, local club and state news, plus snowmobiling opportunities in other states. Publications is September through March and is a benefit of IASC membership.
ILLINOIS SNOWMOBILE CLUBS
Personal Benefits: A prime reason to join a snowmobile club is not just the sense of responsibility of doing something positive for the sport. The best reason to join a snowmobile club is to have more fun. Snowmobiling is a very special sport. We like to share it with others. It is much more fun to be with a group than to snowmobile alone. Snowmobile clubs provide an opportunity to meet other people with the same interest. You'll discover new places to ride, plus take club trips. Even the work parties become fun because of the camaderie. Club events such as hayrides, picnics, campouts and dances are held to keep the fun going all year long.
Choosing a Club: Most snowmobile clubs in Illinois are members of THE IASC, the parent organization representing the sport of snowmobiling in Illinois. There are nearly 80 clubs throughout the state, with one probably close to you. The IASC will be happy to refer you to a club in your area. We can even help you start a new club if you wish. If there are several clubs in your area, visit them, then make a choice and join. Annual family memberships dues are typically $20-$30.
